The brain is the main part of our cranial nervous system. It's the most complicated and important part of our body. Our brain weighs about 1.4 kg(2%) of body weight. It contains 100 billion neurons and 10 trillion neuroglia which have the ability to receive and conducting an enormous amount of information. There are some things that doctors and scientists don't completely understand yet about it. That means there are so many interesting things you should know about the brain.
1. about 75 percent of the brain is made up of water. This means that dehydration, even in small amounts can affect your brain, so many people suggest us to properly hydrate our body while studying.
2. Cerebellum, the part of brain helps in coordinate the muscular movement, maintain balance and posture and tone. It is affected by alcohol so the balance is lost in person who has consumed alcohol.
3. In a right-handed person left brain is dominant while in a left-handed person, the right brain is dominant and studies have found that individuals who are lefties score higher when it comes to creativity, imagination and intuition because the right side performs more creative or abstract calculations.
4. Your brain can generate enough electricity to power some light bulbs. The electricity generated in brain by neurons results from the motion of sodium and potassium ions across the cell membrane of neurons.
5. sixty percent of your brain is made up of fat so this makes the human brain 'the fattiest organ of our body' which is most important for brain performance. So, make sure to deliver your brain daily with some brain-boosting nutrients.
6. It's a myth that you only use 10 % of your brain. you actually use all of it even when you are sleeping. When you sleep, your brain strings together random fragments from your memories and imagination to create dreams.
7. Brain stroke is caused by haemorrhage or blockage of blood supply in the brain preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutritions. It's a medical emergency leading to death so prompt treatment is crucial. uncontrolled high blood pressure, traumas, over treatment with blood thinners, etc are the main causes.
8. When adult brain cells are somehow injured, they revert to an embryonic state, say neuroscientists. in their newly adopted immature state ,the cells become able to regrowing new connections that, under the right condition, can help to restore lost functions.
9. Our brain's storage capacity is considered as virtually unlimited. The average adult human brain has the ability to store the equivalent of 2.5 million gigabyte digital memory.
10. Brain fog is not a medical condition itself but rather a symptom of other medical conditions. Memory problems, lack of mental clarity, poor concentration, and focus are due to brain fog. It usually happens due to stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, diet, medication and mental conditions.
